If you’ve been wanting to give Rottefella’s innovative NTN telemark binding a try, check out the tour dates below. Rottefella with Telemark Skier Magazine will be conducting a tour this winter to spread the stoke and give folks the opportunity to experience the revolution of skiing tele without a cable.
If you don’t know what NTN
is, it’s a new binding and boot interface that radically improves the power transfer from boot to ski for telemark skiing. Instead of attaching the boot to the ski via a ‘duckbill’-style 75 mm toe, as do all other telemark bindings, the NTN binding clasps the boot underfoot with opposing force. The interface connects to the boot via two separate points, at the front of the boot (much like a traditional alpine skiing binding) as well as under the boot just beneath the arch via a second heel. Because it connects at two points, and in a more secure way, NTN delivers unparalleled performance.
But we hear ya. Ya gotta try to believe. So now’s your chance (or soon anyway).
Head to anyone of the demo events below and look for the demo tent. Telemark Skier Editor Josh Madsen, who’s helping manage the tour, will be present at all events. Along with raffling off an NTN binding at each event, they’ll have a full fleet of K2 skis mounted with NTN bindings and of course SCARPA boots compatible with NTN. As well, they’ll be handing out this rebate for $100 off when you buy both boots and bindings. Finally, there will be an after-party at each event featuring a screening of Maden’s tele-flick “The Freeheel Life 2: Hippies Punx & Misfits”.

Need for a LATE ADD March Kirkwood Event is IMINENT!
Any chance to add a canadian date, WHistler sure would be nice. Or at least one Pacific Northwest location. I so want them, but will not buy them without trying them first. With 3 pairs of ski’s and boots I’m looking at like 1500$ invested!
There is a demo day in Oregon: January 8-9, 2011 @ North West Tele-Fest/Hoodoo Ski Area, Hoodoo, OR (while still located in the PWN, not exactly what your were referring to though, I’m sure)
That being stated, we certainly understand your concern. Officially this is a Rottefella/Telemark Magazine planned and sponsored tour. We’ll pass your request along, though! We definitely believe in ‘trying before buying’ as a great way to get into NTN.
GOOD JOB…
Yeah, I’d be very keen to up myself to NTNs. A friend bought a setup a year or two ago, and likes them. But I do believe in try-before-buy where possible.
I started on old 3-pin bindings with Scarpa T3s on way-too-big skis, and have been through Rainey superloops (eventually broke down), broke 2 of the 7tm releaseables when I moved up to T2 boots, am now on the Hammerhead by 22designs and quite liking them. But my boots are nearing being done, and maybe I should consider NTN?
I too would love a day on them at Whistler. If you’re already on the west coast in CA end of Feb, just pop north for a visit.
Thanks.
Hey Greg!
Thanks for your interest in NTN… there’ve been a few canucks who’ve requested a visit up north. While we are done with the Tour planning, the last day is Feb 25 and 26 at Alpine Meadows in California… just in case.
We are discussing next year’s tour with Telemark Skier magazine who’s responsible for the current NTN tour and hoping to add a visit to the Whistler area.
In general, everyone I know who has transitioned to NTN has been stoked on it! Thanks for the request!
