The month of May finds many of our SCARPA-shod friends scattered around the globe. Here’s just a sampling of where they are and what (altitude) they’re up to:
- Climber Eric Weihenmayer landed a spot on a new Mark Burnett-produced reality show, called ExpeditionImpossible. Eric can’t share too many detailes but he did reveal that he spent the last couple of weeks in Morrocco with his team member Jeff Evans “competing” for a chance to win $250,000. Who knows what craziness Burnett schemed up for them to overcome, but we’ll all get to find out when the first episode airs on ABC on June 21st.
- Farbizio Zangrilli continues his Himalayan quest to summit Makalu and is providing regular audio reports on his blog . Today finds his team back at advance base camp recovering from a trip up to Camp III at 7,600 meters in what sounds like pretty burly conditions. When it takes Fabrizio 8 hours to climb 1,000 meters, you know it wasn’t a beautiful day.
- Sam Elias has been around the world lately (as professional climbers have a habit of doing). Bozeman/Hyalite, Russia, Spain and who knows where to next. Sam has a nice round up of his adventures with his friends, including Conrad Anker, Joe Kinder, Kris Erickson, Emily Harrington, Chris Sharma, Beth Roden and others. Sam’s review of the SCARPA Instinct is coming soon.
We’ll see what other adventures our team has in the works, next week. Stay tuned and get out on your own. Remember, adventure is a relative term…
