SCARPA Sponsors OuterLocal Games in Jackson, Wyoming this weekend

Jul. 3rd 2012

The Outerlocal Summer Games in Jackson are heating up right along with the weather in Wyoming. Taking place this weekend, on Saturday July 7, the first-inaugural OuterLocal games will take place at the newly constructed Teton Boulder Park at the base of Snow King Mountain – the unofficial in-town activity center in Jackson Hole. On any given day in the summer, you’ll see climbers (at the Boulder Park), hikers, runners, mountain bikers and paragliders, and perhaps the occasional unicyclist.

So, in honor of all you can do on Snow King, the OuterLocal games will include competitive events in bouldering, mountain biking, paragliding and trail running (sorry unicyclists), and there will also be some 20 free clinics throughout the day.

Starting off the day is a women’s only anchor building clinic with SCARPA Athlete and IFMGA/AMGA certified mountain guide, Angela Hawse. The clinic will last 1.5 hours and starts at 10:30am. Angela is teaching a second anchor building clinic at 3:30pm for both men and women.

SCARPA will be at the event with rock shoe demos and plenty of schwag, so stop on by anytime throughout the day to say hello and try out some of SCARPA’s newest rock shoes.

Red Bull’s DJ El Jefe will be mixing music to keep the energy up and the spectators happy early in the day, and two bands – Lazy Eyes and Boom Chick will keep the party going starting at 3:30pm. The Snake River Brewery is hosting the BrewPub Beer Games at 3pm which includes a Corn Hole Tournament. Local food and drinks will be available at the event as well.

Have a wonderful 4th of July!
