SCARPA’s Zen Pro and Moraine Mid Offer Performance with a Purpose

May. 19th 2015

On trail and off, light hiking boots have to contend with myriad circumstances: dust, scree, mud, rocks, roots, washed out switchbacks—the list goes on. Whether you’re covering ground on multi-day journeys on the Pacific Crest Trail, or slithering up an incipient single track to the base of a climb in the Wind Rivers of Wyoming, the right kind of light hiker is clutch. We like to think we’ve got you covered. Why? Because they do.

The Zen Pro Mid GTX is the svelte stalwart light hiker that provides protection, dexterity and support on winding paths, through boulder fields and talus slopes—ideal for rugged objectives. Full suede uppers cover the ankles and provide necessary support and protection for shouldering heavier loads through arduous terrain, and yet don’t inhibit dynamic movement when the going gets technical or exposed. Lacing begins close to the toes for precision placement when it matters, and the Vibram Spyder 2 Soles shed mud and pebbles, and has a climbing zone for accurate edging as the trail morphs into 4th and 5th class terrain.

Long day comfort is also a reality for the new Zen. Updated with SCARPA’s proprietary Sock-Fit XT, the new construction system offers a superior snugness around the contours of the foot to better combat blisters, prevents heel rise and increases overall lateral stability. Together it inspires confidence in challenging terrain or long days on your feet.

For the fastpacking or overnight devotees, the Moraine Mid GTX covers lots of ground in a deft, agile package. At first glance, it has the appearance of a high top trail runner. That’s intentional. Built with a similar chassis, the three-season Moraine Mid is engineered to have a similar stride for quick, efficient steps indicative of trail runner movements. However, the TPU insert stiffens the sole for torsional stability in rocky or rooty terrain, protecting the feet but still providing a sturdy stride while wearing a pack. Toe bumper randing extends the life of the boot as the Gore-Tex® weatherproof breathability contends with high output and inclement weather simultaneously.

However you take tread to trail, SCARPA’s light hikers will walk any line you commit yourself to following. Balancing performance with precision, they move with purpose, as it should be.
