2014 SCARPA Ski Bash: One Heck of a Night

Oct. 29th 2014
What a party! When we set out to bring our local community together with the SCARPA Ski Bash, we didn’t expect the entire town of Boulder to rally. If you count the hundreds of skiers that couldn’t get in the door because we’d reached capacity in about the first half hour, nearly 1,000 people came to Sanitas Brewing Company to drink beer, dance to 80s jams, support the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, and welcome the oncoming winter. All said and done, we raised over $2,000 for the CAIC through the gear raffle. A huge credit goes to our fellow sponsors: Backcountry Access, Rab, Zeal Optics, Meier SkisSilverton Mountain, Skratch Labs, Justin’s, Skiing Magazine, SkiLogik, and Loveland Ski Area, for providing items to give away at the party. We’d also like to thank Sanitas Brewing Company for hosting the event, and of course, Boulder’s favorite cover band, The Goonies, for providing the party. Words really don’t do this event justice so we think it’s best to let the pictures do the talking. Thanks toeveryone who got down with us at the SCARPA Ski Bash. We can’t wait to see you all next year. And until then, see you in the lift line and on the skin track. Winter is just around the corner. Cheers!

How To Backcountry Ski In The Spring

Mar. 13th 2014

Having worked in the mountain guiding industry for nearly 20 years, Mike Alkaitis is an experienced mountaineer. Not only is he the general manager and senior guide at the Colorado Mountain School, a professional mountain guide service, he is also a certified Wilderness First Responder, the former Executive Director for the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), and an AMGA-certified rock and ski mountaineering guide. We figured that he is the perfect person to give us some guidance on finding the best backcountry skiing when the weather turns warm.
